Proposal for a Solar
Farm and Battery Storage site in Crowhurst
Dear fellow residents of Crowhurst, we contact you all to let you know of some information that we have very recently been made aware of. For transparency I have attached the full transcript of the email that we received, we had no prior knowledge of this proposal so it was as much of a surprise to us on the Parish Council as I’m sure it will be to you.
As you can read, the email informs us of an outline proposal, by Lightsource bp, for a Solar Farm and Battery Storage facility within the Crowhurst Parish boundary. The area under consideration is that highlighted in RED in the map included.
At this extremely early stage we have very little information other than what is contained in the email. We have however contacted the communications agency who are managing all the communications activity for Lightsource bp and we can confirm that the proposal, whilst in its very early stages, is to be taken seriously.
We want to be completely open and transparent during this process so will be sending regular communications and arranging a number of Open Sessions at the Village Hall, to give you the opportunity come along and ask any questions that you have so that we can try and get answers for you and where we can
share any and all information that we have.
We do understand that this will raise many concerns and questions for you and whilst we have very little concrete information at the moment we are working hard to try and ascertain at least some level of detail. As soon as we have any information we will share with you all.
You will note that in the email transcript it implies that there has already been some engagement with Tandridge District Council. We have managed to confirm that this is a misleading statement, the engagement to date has simply been the same email, sent at the same time, that we received, to each of our 3 Tandridge Councillors. There has been no specific engagement with Tandridge regarding this proposal that we are aware of.
In the meantime, if anyone has, or knows of anyone, that could offer, any experience in this sector and is able to help then please do let us know.
